Waterproofing Basement Walls - What to Do When Using a Epoxy or Latex Waterproofing Coating

Epoxy waterproofing formulas and latex coating formulas have their own specific requirements. And when it comes to waterproofing basement walls they differ from other waterproofing compounds because most waterproofing compounds need to be applied to a damp wall. But epoxy and latex need a completely dry surface before they will bond to that surface.

Additionally, the crack will need to be prepped first before applying latex or epoxy waterproofing coating. Otherwise it will dry up and fall out of the crack. Make sure to follow the instructions on your product to avoid this from happening. Usually you will have to create a dovetail groove joint if the compound falls out after drying.
