When should I ask for my yearly credit report?

Don’t forget to request your free yearly credit report online.

It’s safe and within minutes you will be able to print out your report.

A credit score can also be obtained.  It is based on our payment history.  If that score is too low we may be considered too risky for lenders.  Some will lend however, but at a much higher rate of interest.

To keep track of what’s being reported on us, it is very beneficial to request a copy of our credit report one a year.  And that report is free for the asking!  There are three credit reporting companies: Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion which keep score on us throughout our financial history.  They are required to supply us with a copy of our credit report, free of charge, once per year.  You can get to the legitimate site for those reports by going to

annualcreditreport.com. Or you may prefer to call them at the toll free number: 1-877-322-8228.
